TANGO ORCHESTRA SCHOOL
- for musicians who want to learn how to play tango
The Tango Orchestra School is Stine’s initiative and is based on what in Argentina is called Orquesta Escuela de Tango. It is the place where you learn to play tango.
We work with the general elements of tango such as phrasing, accentuation, accompaniment patterns, rhythmic precision, the so-called yeites (special instrumental effects), and musical understanding.
Along the way, we zoom in on specific styles from tango’s golden era (1930–1950), as well as some more recent orchestras such as Astor Piazzolla.
Stine herself has studied at several orchestra schools of this kind — Orlando Goñi, La UNA, and Emilio Balcarce — and has a total of five years of experience as a student, as well as nearly 20 years of overall experience as a tango musician, with the bandoneon as her instrument.
The aim is to include sessions with guest teachers along the way, representing other principal instruments (piano, double bass, and violin).
The intention is that the orchestra will inspire the students and spark their enthusiasm, perhaps encouraging them to continue playing together even after the educational program has ended.

15 personer i orkestret.
The next round will take place over a series of weekends in Copenhagen and Aalborg during September/October and November 2026. There will be two independent groups, meaning you can sign up for either Copenhagen or Aalborg. The exact schedule, as well as information about venue and price, will be announced soon.
If you would like to participate and receive more information, please send an email to buenosairestangolab@gmail.com.
Upon registration, you will receive sheet music and audio files for practice. You must bring your own instrument and music stand.
There will be a maximum of 15 participants in the orchestra. Basic music-reading skills are required in order to participate. The level is intended for intermediate and advanced musicians. Prior experience playing tango is not necessary. In principle, all instruments are welcome. However, the typical tango instruments are violin, double bass, piano, bandoneon/accordion, and guitar, and these will be given priority when forming the group.
